We treat a variety of presentations across the life span. Each of our clinicians have their own specialised areas. The most common areas we treat are stress, anxiety related disorders, depression, work and burnout, marriage and relationship issues, parenting, life changes and transitions, trauma, neurodiversity, grief, identify, and self-esteem. For children and adolescents, we offer an initial assessment (80 mins) to speak to young person and their family members. Subsequent individual therapy session with the young person is 50 mins.
For adults, our therapy session is 50 minutes long.
Our couples therapy session is 60 minutes long.
The number of sessions required vary considerable depending on the needs, support and complexity of the presentation. Our clinician will discuss with our client a treatment plan and suggestions of number of sessions during the first session.

Payment must be made on the day. We have an eftpos card machine on site. We can also send you an electronic invoice to pay if you wish to claim back from your insurance.
Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice before the appointment or non-attended appointments without any prior notice will occur a cancellation fee.
As a private practice, Building Minds charges full consultation fee in order to operate and run the clinic. We do not receive government funding.
Free treatment can be accessed sometimes through your GP service. We cannot make a referral for you. This means that you need to speak to your gp if you want to access free services through the government.
We offer subsidised prices if you want to see our intern Clinical Psychologist or Child Psychotherapist student. They are under close supervision of our founder Dr Camilla Nguyen, Clinical Psychologist.
Our clinicians have a combined wealth of expertise in assessing and supporting children, young people, and adults with neurodiverse presentations. Our team of clinicians are considered leading experts in this field and we pride ourselves of using the gold standard in assessments. We collect information from multiple sources, which help improve the quality and validity of the outcome. We work as a team looking at the information before make a diagnosis, which increases the rigor of the diagnostic process. We also go through the diagnosis and recommendations in detail with you.
GP referrals are not necessary, we are happy to accept self-referrals.
We will discuss with you on a case by case situation if we require a GP referral.
We also accept GP referrals and from other allied professionals through emailing us directly [email protected]All our clinicians are fully qualified and trained professionals.
Our Psychologists are registered with the New Zealand Psychologist Board. In addition, our peadiatirican, speech and language therapist and counsellor are licenced, accredited and associated with professional organisation.
We are also very proud of being a teaching clinic where we take on student and interns on placement. For 2025, we have an Intern Clinical Psychologist and a Child Psychotherapist student on placement.
Our in-house paediatrician can prescribe medication for ADHD and other mood disorders in children (up to 17 years old). For older teens and adults, we refer on to our psychiatrist colleagues who we work closely with and prescribe medication should you want to access medication.
We will ask if you consent to us liaising with your previous providers (if any) as well as family, friends, partners, place of work or school/college. We also work closely with other health professionals, in particular psychiatrists, and government bodies. If we think other agencies might be beneficial or more suitable for your care, we will discuss this with you and seek your consent before referring you on.
